Welcome to Runaway Bay

Runaway Bay is a vacation resort of 186 individually owned modern condominium units, most of which are available for weekly, monthly, or seasonal vacation rental. We boast a beautiful campus located between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay on beautiful (and mostly undiscovered) Anna Maria Island (north of Sarasota and south of St. Petersburg). Our island is unique in having no high-rise buildings and such a wide variety of quality restaurants that one may enjoy dinner in a different setting every day for weeks. Of course, since each condominium is fully equipped with the necessary amenities, there is always the option of cooking all your meals in your vacation condominium home. (But the restaurants are more fun.) Choose Runaway Bay for your next Florida vacation and you will enjoy early morning walks on the miles and miles of refurbished Gulf beaches, swim with the occasional friendly dolphin in the Gulf's warm blue waters, and enjoy watching as the sun seems to set each evening far across the sparkling waters near the shores of Mexico. In addition you will enjoy our large heated swimming pool (largest on the island) tennis court, recreation room, sauna, exercising equipment, shuffleboard court, Bocce court and fishing pier. When to come The high season is winter (January through Easter) when Florida's famous snowbirds escape here from northern climes, but many, especially Europeans, enjoy the warm summers. There are those however who claim the best time of all is Fall when the crowds are few, the kids are back in school, the Gulf waters are warm and the restaurants offer discounted meals and special two-for-one coupons! Bottom line is that any time of the year is a great time to vacation at Runaway Bay. Rentals While some of the owners may arrange their own private rentals or work through travel agents, most rentals are arranged by the on-site services of Wagner Realty. Directions: The address for Runaway Bay is 1801 Gulf Drive North, Bradenton Beach, FLorida 34217. From Sarasota/Bradenton Airport,(approximately 14 miles) Exit airport to the right to U.S. 41. Continue north on 41. At Cortez Road turn left and continue west all the way to the island which is the end of Cortez Road. Turn right on Gulf Drive to 1801 north. From Tampa Airport (approximately 54 miles) Exit airport taking the SR 60 ramp towards downtown (I-275) follow I-275 south towards St.Petersburg. Continue crossing Howard Franklin Bridge continue I-275 south towards Bradenton crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (toll). Follow US 19, south exit #2 towards Palmetto/Bradenton. Merge onto US 41, follow 41 into Bradenton, turning right onto SR 64 west (Manatee Avenue). Follow SR 64 all the way west to the island. Turn south (left) onto Bay Drive which becomes Gulf Drive into Bradenton Beach to 1801 north. From Orlando Airport (approximately 130 miles) Exit airport, following signs to get on I-4 going west towards Tampa. About 62 miles later, take the I-75 exit (#7) towards Naples. Follow I-75 south for about 36 miles. Exit at Route 64 (Manatee Avenue) go west all the way to the traffic light on Anna Maria Avenue. Turn left at light (Bay Drive). This becomes Gulf Drive. Continue to 1801 Gulf Drive North. From St. Petersburg Airport (approximately 45 miles) When leaving the St. Petersburg airport, take 686 East (towards Tampa/St.Petersburg). After about a mile take the signs toward 275 South (you will go right off 686) and again another right to 275 South. You will be on 275 about 45 miles until after you cross the Sunshine Skyway (toll). Then take 19 South (Exit 2 after the Skyway). Go on to Route 41 South (moving to the left off 19). Stay with 41 until you go over a bridge and are in Bradenton. You will see signs directing you to the beaches which direct you to make a right turn on to Route 64 (Manatee Avenue). Follow this all the way to Anna Maria Island. At the first traffic light go left all the way to Runaway Bay (1801 Gulf Drive).
